Outdoor learning in Woking, Surrey
Habitat runs forest school sessions, hands-on woodland workshops and woodland birthday parties from the Forest School area at Goldsworth Primary School. Small groups, real tools, and plenty of time outdoors in all weathers.
What we do
Everything Habitat runs happens outdoors, in a small group, with children doing real things rather than watching. The difference is simply how often you come and what you make.
Regular outdoor sessions where children explore, build dens, cook on the fire, use tools and learn to look after the woodland. Run the way Forest School is designed to work: the same group, over time, at the children’s pace.
Dates for the next block coming soon
One-off workshops for ages 6 to 9, where children use real woodworking tools to build a project and take it home. Our first is a wooden sailing boat with a leaf-printed sail, on Saturday 17 October 2026.
See the next workshop
Two hours in the woods for the birthday child and their friends: games, den building, fire and marshmallows. £280 for up to 12 children, then £10 for each extra child. Saturday and Sunday, at 1pm or 3pm.

Who runs Habitat
Habitat is run by Mariann Fercsik, Forest School teacher at Goldsworth Primary School. She started Habitat because of what happens to children outdoors: the quiet concentration, the willingness to try something difficult, and the pride of having made something with their own hands.
Sessions are small on purpose, so every child gets time, attention and a proper go at the tools.
